UK appoints Jane Marriott as news High Commissioner

Islamabad, June 15 (Online): Britain has nominated Jane Marriott as the new High Commissioner to Pakistan. Jane, the first female High Commissioner nominated for Pakistan, will take charge in mid-July, said British High Commission in a statement.

Before being nominated for Pakistan, Jane Marriott was the High Commissioner in Kenya from 2019 to 2023.

High Commissioner-designate Jane has extensive experience in diplomacy, internal, administrative and foreign affairs.

Jane Marriott has also held diplomatic responsibilities in Yemen, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. Designated High Commissioner Jane, also advisor to the late US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke.

Incredibly excited to be appointed as British High Commissioner to Pakistan, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott has visited Pakistan twice.

Jane Marriott said that looking forward to getting to know the culturally rich, deeply diverse Pakistan. Pakistan-UK relations are rooted in shared history.

Pak, UK relations bind the two countries in a common partnership, Pakistan, Britain are determined to further strengthen ties, said nominated British High Commissioner.
