AG, IG put on notice on contempt of court petition against re-arresting PTI leaders

ISLAMABAD, May 19 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to Attorney General (AG) and IG Islamabad on contempt of court petition filed against arresting PTI leaders Maleeka Bukhari and Ali Muhammad Khan again after their release.

The court has sought reply from them.

The case came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb Friday.

The counsel for PTI leaders while giving arguments during the course of hearing told the court the court had nullified the arrest order of Ali Muhammad Khan and Maleeka Bukhari under 3-MPO but these two PTI leaders are still in Adiala jail despite court’s orders.

The state counsel said court’s orders were implemented and Maleeka Bukhari and Ali Muhammad Khan were arrested again in other cases.

The counsel for petitioner said “we have seen a video clip showing that Ali Muhammad Khan is being seated in other vehicle by police officers as soon as he came out of Adiala jail.

The court issued notice to AG and IG after hearing the arguments of the lawyers and adjourned the hearing of the case till May 23.
