SC adjourns hearing of Imran petition against amendments in NAB law for indefinite period

ISLAMABAD, May 16 (Online): Supreme Court (sc) has adjourned the hearing of petition filed by PTI chairman Imran Khan against amendments in NAB law for indefinite period.

The court during the hearing of the case directed the counsel for the petitioner he should tell in writing he is challenging what amendments on what basis.

The court also directed federal government to file its submissions in writing.

The matter came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial here Tuesday.

During the hearing the counsel for federal government Makhdoom Ali Khan appeared in the court through video link from Karachi.

The CJP while addressing him remarked “you are far off from us. A day before the situation was such I was not sure I will be able to reach court. Now a day’s social media is not functioning that the information could become available.

The CJP remarked on social media good to see you Khan Sahb is run wrongly.

The CJP while summoning written submission from the lawyers of Imran Khan and federal government maintained more hearing will be held if need is felt after seeing written material. If the court reaches any outcome on the basis of the material provided then the respondents will be informed.

46 hearings in respect of NAB amendment case have taken place so far.

Khawaja Haris gave arguments in 26 hearings and Makhdoom Ali Khan in 20 hearing so far. We don’t want to delay the case further because may the bench not be available in the vacations.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
