Arrests, raid on residence of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi challenged in LHC

LAHHORE, April 29 (Online): Raid on the residence of PTI president Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and arrests made by the police have been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).

Amir Saeed Ran advocate has filed petition on behalf of Rasikh Elahi in LHC against the raid on the residence of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

The petitioner has taken the plea in the petition police conducted operation illegally and resorted to vandalism. Police arrested the persons who were present in the home without any reason and harassed the family members.

High court accepted bail plea of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi till May 6. Conducting operation by police despite bail is blatant violation of law.

It was further said in the petition police be prevented from conducting raids till the period of protective bail. Stern action be taken against those involved in conducting illegal operation.

It has been requested in the petition that court should give order to clear Zahoor Elahi road.

On the other hand case regarding raid on the residence of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has been registered. Case has been registered against Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and others in police station Ghalib Market under 13 clauses including terrorism. Case has also been instituted for putting resistance during operation.

Police said 19 people including Chaudhry Pervez Elahi have been nominated in the case.

According to FIR text Anti corruption team raided his home to arrest Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. About 40 to 50 people who were present in the residence started pelting stones. They resorted to violence. Petrol was thrown on raiding team to set them on fire. Pervez Elahi fled from the scene during it.
