Supreme Court moved for restoration of Punjab, KP assemblies

ISLAMABAD, April 26 (Online): Petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) for restoration of Punjab and KP assemblies.

The petition for revival of dissolved assemblies has been filed by Pakistan Awami League chairman Chaudhry Nasir Mehmood through advocate Sardar Hussain.

The petitioner has taken the plea the dissolution of Punjab and KP assemblies are illegal and unconstitutional. Both the assemblies have not been dissolved on the discretionary powers of chief minister Imran Khan admitted the assemblies have been dissolved at behest of Gen (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa which is unconstitutional. Gen (Retd) Bajwa and Imran Khan have no relevance with chief minister powers for dissolution of assemblies.

The petitioner has prayed the court to revive the dissolved assemblies of Punjab and KP.

It has been further prayed in the petition if SC thinks elections are must then election funds amounting to Rs 21 billion be recovered from PTI.
