Supreme Court review of judgment bill 2023 unanimously passes:NA

ISLAMABAD 14 April (Online): National Assembly unanimously passed Supreme Court Review of Judgment bill 2023 on Friday.

According to bill review appeal could be filed against Supreme Court (SC) verdicts within 60 days.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (Pmln) member national assembly Shaza Fatima Khawaja tablet this bill.

Government has not opposed this bill.

Law minister Azam Nazir Tarar said Parliament never interfered in jurisdiction of any institution but parliament’s authority was challenged.

He said this bill is very clear and making this law was compulsary. This will improve the method of provision to people’s right to justice.

Federal ministr Khawaja Asif and Khurram Dastgir said we are not interfering in judiciary matters then why they are not ready to accept parliament’s supremacy. They are our neighbor and their mutual fight is sight. Now they are fighting with parliament but we will not make any compromise over the supremacy of parliament.

Shaza Fatima told purpose of this bill review petition against SC verdicts and review petition will be heard by larger bench which will be larger than the bench who will have issued verdict. During the hearing this right will be reserved to take services of the judge of petitioners own choice.

Review petition will be filed within 60 days after the verdict.
