LHC allows keeping open markets, shops till 1 a.m night upto Eid

LAHORE, April 07 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has accorded permission to keep open the markets and shops till 1 a.m at night till Eid.

The smog eradication case came up for hearing before Justice Shahid Karim of LHC Friday.

Azhar Siddique counsel for petitioners gave arguments.

The court while expressing resentment over chopping of trees in Lahore ordered to register case against the officers who have accorded permission to chop the trees.

LHC gave indication to register case against DG PHA for allowing passages to private housing societies.
The court remarked if chopping of trees proved due to permission then the court itself will register case against DG PHA.

LHC ordered to inform the DG PHA immediately about the court’s decision.

The court remarked chopping trees is tantamount to murder a man. Global warming is not far off from us but it has come.

The state counsel said department of Planning and Development Punjab has constituted a committee for eradication of heat wave.

Court also ordered to frame policy for using machinery to eliminate the remnants of crop.

The court remarked the implementation of policy and process of monitoring be made effective.

The court also directed to use “Sans” app made for elimination of smoke and smog.

The state counsel said cameras have been installed in industrial area and process of monitoring has been started for eradication of smog.

The court remarked there should be a clause in environmental rules for taking action against the deputy commissioners on their negligence.

The court summoned responsible officer of Ring Road Authority on next hearing for not planting trees.

The court while issuing show cause contempt of court notices to chief executive and responsible officers of Nishat Group summoned them on next hearing.
