ISLAMABAD – April 3 (ONLINE) As a three-member bench of the Supreme Court summed up proceedings on a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed to prevent delay in constitutional timeframe of conduction of polls in Punjab and KPK, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday went head-on at the apex court’s bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mr. Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
After a full day’s hearing, the Supreme Court (SC) reserved on Monday its verdict on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition regarding the postponement of polls in Punjab. The verdict will be announced today (Tuesday).
“What message do you want to convey by sitting aside a judge bearing serious corruption allegations?” the Prime Minister asked CJP Bandial. He was addressing the session of National Assembly.
The Prime Minister said he always ‘sweeps before his own door’ as he talks at the floor of Assembly. He categorically said the government will not accept any judgment passed by three member bench of the apex court. “The nation will only accept a decision by a full court,” he lamented.
The Prime Minister quoted CJP Bandial’s observation during case’s hearing that those who were jailed now talk on the floor of Assembly. “I wasn’t jailed for any criminal case but for my ideology and cause,” he clarified.
In his speech, the premier addressed country’s top judge and told him that it was the duty of government to represent the people of Pakistan. He said the nation will never accept ‘double standards’ of higher judiciary.
