Cabinet agrees on forging strategy on polls in Punjab, KP after SC detailed verdict

ISLAMABAD, MARCH 02 (Online): Federal cabinet has agreed on forging strategy with regard to polls in Punjab and KP after the detailed decision of Supreme Court (SC) will come.

The cabinet while reiterating its resolve said economic stability is linked to political stability.

Respect for institutions is incumbent on all. The country cannot afford further chaos.

Finance Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar took the participants of the meeting into confidence on national economy and IMF virtual talks.

The cabinet met under the Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif in PM house Thursday to discuss five points’ agenda.

The overall political and economic situation of the country was reviewed.

The meeting was given briefing on SC decision. Law minister informed the participants about important legal and constitutional points. The federal cabinet members were also briefed about the dissenting note of judges in the decision.

The cabinet members said all stake holders will have to move forward together for improvement in national economy.

The FM Ishaq Dar told in the meeting that IMF accord will prop up the national economy.

The cabinet expressed grave concern over persistent hike in the price of dollar.

The PM directed to complete energy projects soon. The federal cabinet urged on taking ahead the alternative energy projects.

The cabinet also recommended accelerating the pace of steps for preventing electricity theft.

The cabinet also proposed to hike the tariff of electricity which is used for commercial purpose after official hours.
The cabinet was informed about solarisation project.

The PM while directing to install solar system in state buildings the steps for curtailing reliance on imported fuel are must. The work on solarization of government buildings should be started soon.
