IHC dismisses contempt of court case against PEMRA

ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed contempt of court plea against PEMRA in alleged audio leaks case declaring it non maintainable.

The case came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani here Monday.

The petitioner Mehk Ali appeared in the court along with his counsel Naeem ul Hassan.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court PEMRA violated court orders about broadcasting news on channel.

The court inquired from the counsel of the petitioner is you aggrieved party in this case. How can contempt of court proceedings are initiated due to lack of aggrieved party. You should file application in PEMRA instead of high court.

The court while directing the petitioner to resort to the proper forum wrapped up the petition.
