Power tariff may rise upto 50 Paisa per Unit

ISLAMABAD 22 Feb (Online): There is possibility of rise in electricity tarrif upto 50 paisa per unit for consumers.

Electricity companies have filed application in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the recovery of 17 Billion and 198 million.

LESCO asked for the permission 6 billion 347 million and GEPCO asked for the consent of 6 billion 566 million recovery.

FESCO requested for the recovery of 4 billion and 479 million, MEPCO asked for the recovery of 2 billion 407 million and IESCO requested for the consent for the recovery of one billion and 322 billion from consumers.

Chairman NEPRA Tousif H. Farooqi led bench said during hearing that 50 paisa per unit will add to the electricity tariff for second quarterly adjustment. Electricity tarrif will rise in the month of April, May, and June.

According to NEPRA authorities on electricity tarrif 3.08Pkr is being received on quarterly adjustment.

NEPRA expressed anger over the performance of power distribution companies.

Energy ministry demanded increase in power tarrif for the month of March, April and May.
