IHC stops police from initiating action against Sheikh Rashid in Lasbela, Mochko cases

ISLAMABAD, FEB 06 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered police not to initiate any action against Sheikh Rashid Ahmad in respect of the cases registered in Lasbella and Mochko area of Karachi

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri took up the case for hearing Monday.

The counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court had stopped police from taking further action with regard to summons notice from Aabpara police station. But police registered the case on this application and made arrest. One more FIR was registered in Karachi when Sheikh Rashid was in the custody of police.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked when the venue for giving statement is Polyclinic hospital then how the case was registered in Karachi. How can FIR be lodged in different cities in respect of one incident.

The counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court third case was registered in Murree.

The court inquired has the arrest been made in all these three cases.

The counsel for Sheikh Rashid said arrest has been made in one case only.

The court remarked law says this when arrest takes place in one case then it is also done in remaining cases . . .
The counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court Sheikh Rashid was kept tied with chair for six hours at unknown place. During it political questions were asked and he was subjected to torture also.

The court remarked I am notunderstanding this will stop where. You had registered cases of terrorism against secretary information and MD PTV and the same is being done against you. Think for a while had Badh Pir police arrested woman secretary information and taken her then what would have happened.

The court while issuing notices to bar councils. Attorney general and advocate general adjourned the hearing of the case till Thursday.
