Sindh: Govt inflated wheat cause costly flour

KARACHI 13 Sep (Online): Government increase in price of wheat to flour mills caused the pricy flour to burden the citizens.

According to market sources, wheat prices reached to 3200 to 3600.

Punjab government bearing huge subsidies to provide cheap wheat to people while the prices are high in other three provinces due to which complaints of huge wheat smuggling from Punjab has increased.

Pakistan flour mills association rejected the increased wheat price of Rs.4, 000 and said huge increase in wheat price will impose burden on people.

According to sources, after Rs.4000 prices announcement of wheat has created chaos in Punjab due to which wheat price increased to 3400 to 3500 per 40kg in Punjab and in Karachi the prices is 3650 per 40kg which explains that the new price of wheat (Rs.4000 per 40kg) is not correct because it will increase the burden on people.

Pakistan Flour Mills Association’s leader Asim Raza said this new price in impractical and cause negative effects. He said that flood may cause low production of wheat in next year due to which this increase in prices isn’t acceptable.

Further Asim Raza said that Punjab government increase in release price government jurisdiction and we will provide flour on price in accordance to the price of wheat government will provide us. But government should increase daily quota as per demand.
