CDA allots 22000 plots in the name of its chairman, members their relatives: IHC

ISLAMAABAD, Sep 02 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked 22000 plots have been allotted by Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the names of its chairman, members and their relatives.

These remarks were given by Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah during the hearing of nonpayment of compensation to CDA affectees case here Friday.

The court directed chairman CDA Capt (Retd) Muhammad Usman to appear before it in person on September 16.

The court remarked as to why contempt of court proceedings be not initiated against you in the event of nonpayment of compensation to the affectees.

The court remarked state has failed in giving their rights to the citizens.

The court inquired chairman CDA should explain as to why the compensation has not been paid to the affectees.

The counsel for the affectees told the court during the hearing of the case “our children have become young. Where we will go? The compensation has not been paid to us so far.

The CJ IHC remarked do you know how much big this issue is. You are taking it like an ordinary case.

The CJ IHC while expressing annoyance remarked you have acquired their lands 40 years before. The court had given decision that their claims will be given to the affectees. CDA allotted 22000 plots in the name of its chairman and members. Nothing was given to those from whom land was snatched. Do you want we should launch contempt of court proceedings against the chairman CDA?

The court while summoning chairman CDA Capt (Retd) Muhammad Usman adjourned the hearing of the case till September 16.
