Heads of component parties of ruling alliance lay heads on matter of Imran Khan arrest

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (Online): Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman have stressed on initiating action against Imran Khan as per law while Asif Ali Zardari has once again opposed to arrest Imran Khan.

Sources said that the stalwarts of ruling alliance have laid heads on the matter of Imran Khan.

Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif has contacted Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman and taken them into confidence on the entire situation.

Sources told Online that Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed on ensuring rule of law saying if someone has breached law then he should be punished as per law. Any political party has not instituted cases against Imran Khan but he himself has threatened the institutions.

Law is taking its course. If there is no rule of law then there will be devastation in the country. Imran Khan should face the law. If he has not done something wrong then the courts are free. Threatening state institutions is state terrorism. The matter should be dealt with as per law.

Asif Ali Zardari however opposed the arrest saying his arrest will cause political damage to us. Other legal options are before us instead of arrest. These should be discussed.

Sources told Online that PM himself is in favor of arresting Imran Khan. He thinks that Imran Khan should not be allowed to intimidate institutions. He should face law at every cost.

Sources said that PM has decided to make consultation with the cabinet and allied parties taking into consideration the gravity of the matter.
