IHC suspends the PAC recommendations for removing Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal from chairmanship of Missing Persons Commission

SLAMABAD, August 02 (ONLINE): Islamabad High Court (IHC) acting Chief Justice Amir Farooq has suspended the recommendation by Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for removing Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal from chairmanship of Missing Persons Commission.

The court while issuing notice to secretary National Assembly and secretary PAC for reply has restrained from taking any adverse action against former chairman NAB.

Shoaib Shaheen advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner in the court and took the plea PAC has decided to write a letter for removing Javed Iqbal from chairmanship of missing persons commission. PAC recommended for removing Javed Iqbal from chairmanship of missing persons commission.

The court remarked the matter of powers of PAC has been raised in two other petitions.

The counsel said the minutes of PAC July 07 meeting be declared illegal.

Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Arshid Kiyani said this matter has now shifted from PAC to inquiry commission.

The court said to DAG has PAC finished its proceedings. Inform us on next hearing. If the proceedings is not running in PAC the petition will become infructuous.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till August 11 with these steps.
