Bank of Khyber Junior KP Badminton Championship begins

PESHAWAR, Jul 01 (APP): The first edition of the Bank of Khyber Junior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Championship got underway at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda under the aegis of District Badminton Association with more than 150 players, both girls and boys, are taking part.

Managing Director and CEO Bank of Khyber Muhammad Ali Gul Faraz along with Head of Marketing Hassan Tariq, Ehtesham Durrani, Provincial Badminton Association General Secretary Amjad Khan, District Sports Officer Charsadda Tehseenullah, Tournament Director Mian Sadaqat Shah, Coaches Hayat Khan, Nadeem Khan and Administrator Muhammad Imran Khan among others were present.

Najam Saqib, U-13 Girls National runner-up Khukla, U-15 National Champion Fahad, U-17 National Champion Zaid, U-19 Double National Champion Afnan and Hamza along with 150 male and family players from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in different categories including Boys and Girls and singles and doubles.

Managing Director Bank of Khyber Muhammad Ali Faraz appreciated the organizing committee for holding the Championship wherein all top ranking players are taking part. “I am very happy to see the enthusiasm of young boys and girls in sports because what we learn in sports would be useful to be a good citizen in the society,” said CEO Mohammad Ali Gul Faraz.

He said that Bank of Khyber is playing its role for the promotion of sports in the province and before that he had also provided financial support for squash and football Championships. “We will try to hold the Bank of Khyber Junior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Championship on a regular basis every year so that the players of the province get more opportunities to hone their skills and go further,” he added. To brighten the name of the nation the players should do hard work because they could only achieve their target or goal through hardwork.

He said BoK would hold trials in Badminton and would select the best players would of the total lot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, both girls and boys and would extend full support like they had in squash and football.
