Barrister Sultan highlights scouts’ role in the society

Muzaffarabad( PID, AJK) President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has said that volunteer movements play an important role in any society because volunteers remain at the forefront in providing assistance to the people in case of any emergency.

He expressed these views while addressing the 3rd Scouts Training and Youth Program Conference here today. The ceremony was attended and addressed by Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Dewan Ali Khan Chughtai, Principal Pilot High School Muzaffarabad Anwar-ul-Haq, Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Razzaq Ahmad Nadeem, Chief Scouts Commissioner Sarfraz Qamar Dha, Prof. Tauqeer-ul-Islam Principal Cadet College Batrasi and others.

Speaking on the occasion the president while highlighting the importance of Scouting movements said that the scouts play a vital role in the society especially in emergency situations. Referring to severe weather conditions and volatile situation on the LoC, the president said that Scouts movement can play an important role in dealing with the situation arising out of the Line of Control and weather conditions.

Urging scouts to move forward with full dedication and passion, he said that the government would provide all possible support to scouts and the scouting organization.

“Azad Kashmir is the base camp of Kashmir’s liberation struggle and given the sensitivity of the region we should be ready to deal with any kind of emergency”, he said adding that scouts can play a vital role in dealing with such situations.

About the worsening situation in Indian occupied Kashmir, the president said, “There is a serious situation in Occupied Kashmir at the moment”.

Referring to his recently concluded visit to UK and Brussels, the president said that during his visit he exposed India’s brutal oppression and atrocities inflicted upon people of Kashmir by the occupation forces.

It is worth mentioning here that President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry’s recent visit to the United Kingdom has begun to yield positive results as British MPs have raised Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, ongoing human rights violations and Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik’s unjust sentencing in the British parliament.

Similarly, four British Parliamentarians of Kashmiri descent have asked a written question to Prime Minister Boris Johnson regarding Kashmir and as per the rules the Prime Minister is bound to answer the question.

It may be recalled here that the British Members of Parliament had promised the President of Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry that they would raise the issue of Kashmir in the parliament.
