Indonesia ready to facilitate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, president says

SINGAPORE – April 29 (ONLINE) Jakarta is ready to facilitate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said in a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Exchanged views over the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the situation in Ukraine, as well as on G20 cooperation,” Widodo wrote on Twitter. “Underlined that the war must stop immediately and peace negotiations be given a chance. Indonesia stands ready to contribute towards this goal,” he pointed out.

Indonesia, who is holding the presidency of the G20 in 2022, plans to host the group’s summit in Bali in November.
