LONDON (PNI) Mass protests and demonstrations were held across United Kingdom on Friday condemning the ban on wearing Muslim headgear in India.
People assembled outside mosques after congregational Friday prayers and demanded that the Hijab ban by Hindu fascist government in India is lifted immediately.
Raising anti-fascism slogans, the protestors urged the UK government and international community to intervene and hold the Narendra Modi government accountable for its violation of freedom of religion and freedom to attain education.
“The ban on Hijab violates all laws be it domestic laws of India or international laws but it is surprising why international community, particularly western countries, are silent on India’s regressive policies against Muslims,” said Fahim Kayani, president of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK.
Amid slogans against hate, Hindutva and RSS fascism, the demonstrators warned India was moving towards a genocide of Muslims.
“India is already committing genocide of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJK) but under fascist Modi, India is undertaking a vulgar move to eliminate all those who are not Hindus in India,” Kayani said.
He said it was time for the Muslim countries, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to speak up and condemn India and her hypocrisy.
“India is a facade of democracy and needs to be held accountable for her war crimes, crimes against humanity, disinformation and Islamophobia acts,” Kayani said.
The demonstrators slammed silence of the so-called feminists and human rights organizations who have closed their eyes on violation of women’s rights in India.
Mufti Fazal Ahmed Qadari, Mufti Abdul Majeed Nadeem, Ch Ikram ul Haq, Khawajah Muhammad Suleiman, Raja Javed Iqbal, Mulana Sajjad, Qamar Abbas, Ch Muhammad Qurban , Rehana Ali and Talat Baseer said in their joint statement: “It is a global alliance against Muslim rights and that is why the OIC must wake up and lead battle against rising fascism in India.”
