Shutter down strike in KP against rising inflation

MARDAN – February 1 (ONLINE): Marble Mines and Industries Development Association Mardan have announced a shutter down strike across the province against fuel price adjustment and other taxes.

Addressing a news conference at Mardan Press, Association’s provincial chairman Mohammad Sajjad Kan said that his association is going to observe shutter down strike and closure of factories across the province against electricity fuel price adjustment, quarter tariff adjustment, extra tax and double good and services tax (GST).

Sajjad added that electricity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was generated from hydel resources, but unfortunately taxes were minted from poor people of the province through electricity bills.

He said that in 2012 the Peshawar High Court had ruled against the fuel price adjustment (FPA) but still the government is imposing fuel price adjustment. He said that his association will soon reach out the Supreme Court of Pakistan through the legal team.
