SIALKOT, Jan 30 (APP): A delegation of Tobacco Control Cell, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC) Government of Pakistan led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Farooq Akmal on Sunday visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI).
SCCI President Mian Imran Akbar welcomed the honorable guests and appreciated the “Tobacco Smoke free Cities” initiative of NHSRC and also thanked the Ministry of National Health Services on choosing the platform
of SCCI for tobacco smoke free awareness campaign.
The SCCI and Tobacco Control Cell, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC) also signed an MoU aimed at making the Sialkot city smoke free. SCCI President Mian Imran Akbar and Muhammad Farooq Akmal along with Senior Vice President SCCI Sheikh Zohaib Rafique Sethi also inaugurated the “Smoke-Free Zone” at SCCI premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the SCCI President said: “We will work together to make future generations tobacco-free”.
He said that Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Ministry of National Health and Tobacco Control Cell in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner’s Office Sialkot would make Sialkot a smoke free model district.
He further said: “We are grateful to the Ministry of National Health and Tobacco Control Cell Sialkot for drawing our attention to this important issue”.
Sialkot would be known as tobacco free like it was known all over the world for sports goods manufacturing city, he added.
