JI stages protest rally against Sindh Local Govt law

HYDERABAD, Jan 12 (APP):Jamaat-e-Islami Hyderabad chapter here on Wednesday organized a protest rally against recently passed Sindh Local Government [Amendment] Act- 2021.

A large number of Jamat Islami workers and traders led by party’s district Amir Aqeel Ahmed Khan participated in the protest demonstration held at Market Chowk.

Addressing the rally, Aqeel Ahmed Khan said that the PPP government in Sindh had disenfranchised the elected representatives of the local bodies through Sindh LG law instead of giving them constitutional powers.
He said that they fully supported the ongoing sit-in protest outside Sindh Assembly for the rights of Karachi.

He said Jamat Islami’s protest drive was a movement for the downtrodden people of the province.

Addressing the rally, Ex MPA Abdul Waheed Qureshi said that Jamaat-e-Islami had always raised its voice for the problems of Sindh and the rights of the people at every forum.

He said that PPP had turned Sindh into a ruin and Jamaat-e-Islami was on the streets for the rights of the people of the province.

He demanded of the Sindh government to withdraw SLG Act 2021 without any delay failing which the protest movement would be extended to other parts of the province.

The Trade body leaders also extended their full support to Jamat Islami in its movement against Sindh LG law.
