Death anniversary of Munir Niazi, Parveen Shakir observed

Islamabad – December 26 (ONLINE): 27th death anniversary of ‘poetess of love and fragrance’ Parveen Shakir was observed Sunday.

Parveen, born on November 24, 1954 in Karachi belonged to a family that produced many known poets and authors. She had a poetic approach from her teen-age, and she became ‘talk of literary towns’ at a very young age.

Her best poetic books include ‘Khushboo’ ‘Sada barg’ ‘Khud kalami’ and others. She passed away on December 26, 1994 in a tragic road accident in Islamabad.

15th death anniversary of renowned poet Munir Niazi was also observed Sunday.

Known for his melodious ghazals, Niazi also penned songs for films.
Some of his Urdu collections include “Taiz Hawa aur Tanha Phool”, “Jungle main Dhanak” and “Mah-e-Munir”.

He passed away on this day in 2006 after suffering from a respiratory disease.
