Karachi no more to be ‘overburdened’: Asad Umar

Karachi – December 12 (Online): Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said Sunday that provincial capital of Sindh [Karachi] was not begging for its rights from the chief minister of Sindh.

Asad Umar, Sunday in a hard-hitting “All Stakeholders” press conference said that government will soon come up with a strategy for Karachi.

He said that Karachi will not be overburdened anymore. “This problem does not concern a political party. It concerns a system wherein politicians come to power and become richer [at the expense of the taxpayer],” he added.

Federal minister said that it was necessary ‘to change the system instead of faces’. “We will continue to raise our voices in Sindh Assembly, despite their [PPP] telling us that we are in the minority,” he said, adding that the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 needed to be amended as its provisions were in contravention to the Constitution.
