President Arif Alvi starts consultation process for appointment of new chairman NAB

ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (Online): President Arif Alvi has started consultation process in connection with appointment of new chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Aiwan-e-Sadr sources have confirmed Aiwan-d-Sadr has become active on the matter of induction of new chairman NAB. Under the constitution Aiwan-e-Sadr has written a letter to leader of the house in National Assembly (NA) and Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and opposition leader in NA Shahbaz Sharif.

Through these letters names for new chairman NAB have been sought from PM Imran Khan and opposition leader in NA Shahbaz Sharif. Both have been requested to send such names to Aiwan-e-Sadr which meet the procedure and rules and regulations set for the appointment of chairman NAB. If both PM and opposition leader don’t reach a consensus name then president will refer this matter to parliamentary committee comprising equal number of treasury and opposition members. President will also hand over the names to parliamentary committee which were proposed by the PM and opposition leader.

It may be mentioned that the sitting chairman NAB Javed Iqbal has completed his four years service tenure on October 8. The incumbent chairman NAB has been directed under presidential ordinance to work till the appointment of new chairman NAB.
