US president expresses gratitude to Pakistan govt for cooperation in war on terror in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD, MARCH 05 (ONLINE): US president Donald Trump has expressed gratitude to government of Pakistan for extending cooperation in war on terror in Afghanistan.

US President Donald Trump has expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s government for assisting in the arrest of a key terrorist involved in the 2021 Kabul airport bombing. Addressing a joint session of Congress, he recalled that three and a half years ago, a terrorist killed thirteen American service members and countless others in the Abbey Gate bombing.

He said we have apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity. He also described it as a very huge day for the affected families.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked US President Donald Trump for acknowledging and appreciating Pakistan’s role and support in counter terrorism efforts across the region in the context of Pakistan Security Forces’ recent apprehension of Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) top tier operational commander Shareefullah.

In a post on his X handle, he said the wanted terrorist, an Afghan national, was apprehended in a successful operation conducted in Pakistan-Afghan border region.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve and unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations..
Pakistan has rendered sacrifices of 80000 lives in war against terrorism which should be acknowledged at world level, he remarked.
He stated Pakistan has been playing a key role in counter terrorism efforts so that the terrorists and militants could be deprived of safe havens.

He held commitment of our leadership and people is unwavering to eliminate menace of terrorism from the country.

Partnership with US will continue for the sake of regional peace and security, he underlined.
