Islamabad (PNI) Alpine club of Pakistan – the national mountaineering and sport climbing federation has organized rock climbing festival at Margallah Hils. It organized national rock climbing championships 2024 at Sadipur rocks wherein athletes from across the country of different departments participated. This competition was held in open and youth categories. In open category Mir Hassan Faiz from Islamabad, first; Mr. Saifuddin from SNGPL second; and Mir Abu Zar Faiz stood third. In youth category Mr. Huzaifa Imran from Islamabad Mr. Saad Aslam from AJK and Mr. Umar Bilal Zafar from Higher Education Commission third positions respectively.
Mr. Rehamatullah Qureshi was the President of the Jury whereas Mr. Karrar Haideri and Najib Khattak , Hanzala Hussain Zafar and Zaheer Ahmed performed the duty of jury members.
An training session of rock climbing for the athletes from Sweet Home, Aghosh and from the twin cities participated in large number. Mr. Rehmatullah Qureshi, Hanzal Hussain, Zaheer Ahmed, Safiuddin taught the participants were introduced with the use of climbing gear basics of the rock climbing techniques. The participants were also taught about the different types of climbing holds/grips and moves. Climbing experience was also enjoyed by them.
At the occasion, Mr. Abu Zafar Sadiq, President, ACP also give a lecture on importance of rock climbing and outdoor pursuits. He thanked the provincial units and departments like HEC and SNGPL for their active participation in national rock climbing championships. Mr. Karrar Haideri, Secretary, ACP was also present at this occasion and praised the athletes for their excitement and enthusiasm shown by them in rock climbing.
At the occasion Mr. Ayaz Ahmed Shigri, VP ACP, Muhammad Ashraf Sadpara, renowned mountaineer, Sheri Jadoon and representatives of departments, provinces and Sweet Home and Aaghosh were also present.
