SCO Launches Pakistan’s First-Ever Data Center in Line with National Cloud Policy

Rawalpindi, June 14, 2024: Special Communications Organisation (SCO), a leader in connecting Northern Pakistan, has inaugurated the country’s first state-of-the-art Tier 3 certified cloud data center for the AJ&K and GB region. This landmark achievement was celebrated with a grand launch event where Major General Umar Ahmed Shah, HI(M), Director General SCO, officially opened the facility, marking a significant milestone in the Digital Pakistan initiative.

The newly launched cloud data center is a big step in modernizing Pakistan’s remote regions, providing a robust platform for sectors such as freelancers, hotels, banks, and tourism. Moreover, government sectors, NGOs, e-commerce enterprises, and economic zones along the CPEC and KKH will derive significant benefits from these cloud services.

Major General Umar Ahmed Shah, HI(M), Director General of SCO, expressed immense pride in inaugurating Pakistan’s first-ever Tier 3 certified cloud data center for AJ&K and GB region. He emphasized that this facility showcases SCO’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering technological advancement. According to him, the facility is a catalyst for economic growth and a key step towards opening new opportunities for innovation and development in remote areas.

SCO’s cloud services adhere to ISO certified standards, ensuring high levels of security and reliability, thus fostering growth and development in the AJ&K and GB regions. Since its inception in 1976, SCO has been dedicated to connecting Pakistan’s most remote areas, offering comprehensive fiber and 4G GSM services. The launch of this cloud data center further solidifies SCO’s commitment to enhancing digital connectivity and infrastructure.
