SC dismisses petition seeking enforcement of Islamic presidential system in the country

ISLAMABAD, February 23 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed petition seeking enforcement of Islamic presidential system in the country. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa heard the petition Friday.
The petitioner said they want enforcement of Islamic presidential system in the country/

The CJP Qazi Faez Isa remarked ” we too want Islamic order in the country. Parliamentary system is in place in Pakistan. Read the constitution of Pakistan. The color of book of constitution too is green. Mention is made about Islamic order in the constitution of Pakistan. The constitution starts with the name of Almighty Allah. The holy Quran is mentioned in the constitution. As per article 227 no law can be enacted against Quran and Sunnah. Do you have any difference over these things . Do you want to become president in presidential system. Why do you want presidential system to delegate all powers to one person. What you are reading is not constitution of Pakistan.

The petitioner replied court should give him time to study constitution of Pakistan.
The CJP remarked we dismiss this petition. Study the construction and later you can file new petition if you will.
The court dismissed the petition.
