Dame Joan Plowright, an award-winning actress and widow of renowned actor and director Lord Laurence Olivier, has passed away at the age of 95.

The celebrated British actress, whose remarkable career spanned over seven decades in theater, film, and television, died peacefully at Denville Hall in England, surrounded by loved ones, her family announced in a statement.

“Joan enjoyed a long and distinguished career until her retirement, which was necessitated by her loss of vision,” the statement read. “Her final years in Sussex were filled with joy, laughter, and treasured moments shared with friends and family.”

She is survived by her children Tamsin, Wilf, Julie-Kate, and Dan; grandchildren Richard, Shelley, Troy, Ali, Jeremy, and step-granddaughter Kaya; as well as great-granddaughter Sophia, with another great-grandchild on the way, the family noted.
