A wealthy man was having breakfast when his home servant walked in, trying very hard not to smile.
The man noticed. “Why are you grinning like that?”
The servant coughed. “Nothing, sir… just… I didn’t sleep well last night.”
The man narrowed his eyes. “Why not?”
The servant hesitated, then said, “Well sir… I may have accidentally seen you and madam last night… you know… busy.”
The man froze. “WHAT?!”
The servant quickly added, “Don’t worry sir, I didn’t see much… just enough to understand why madam was shouting, ‘Slower! Slower!’”
The man turned red. “That’s… not what you think!”
The servant nodded politely. “Of course, sir. I also noticed this morning… you’re walking a bit carefully.”
The man sighed, embarrassed. “Look, just forget what you saw.”
The servant smiled. “Absolutely, sir… I forget things very quickly.”
The man relaxed. “Good.”
The servant added, “In fact, I already forgot… unless my salary also forgets to increase this month.”
The man stared at him.
The servant bowed slightly. “Memory is a very expensive thing, sir.”
