A young priest had just arrived at a new church in Chicago.
Wanting to make a good impression, he decided to visit the nearby convent and introduce himself to the nuns.
The Mother Superior welcomed him warmly and invited him to dinner.
During the meal, one young nun kept smiling at him every time he looked up.
The priest tried hard not to notice… but he definitely noticed.
After dinner, the Mother Superior asked:
“Father, would you mind helping Sister Margaret carry the desserts downstairs to the pantry?”
“Of course.”
So the priest and the nun headed down into the dark basement together.
As she bent over to place a pie on the shelf, the priest accidentally dropped his spoon.
CLANG.
The nun jumped.
“Oh my goodness, Father, you scared me.”
The priest laughed nervously.
“Sorry, Sister. I seem to lose control around sweets.”
The nun smirked.
“So I noticed.”
For a second, the room went silent.
Then suddenly the lights went out.
Pitch black.
The nun gasped.
“Father?!”
“Yes?!”
“I can’t see anything!”
Neither can I!”
A long awkward silence followed.
Then the nun whispered:
“Father… what should we do?”
The priest cleared his throat.
“Well… in situations like this… I usually just feel around until I find the right opening.”
Another long silence.
Then the nun burst out laughing and said:
“Well, now I understand why the church keeps calling you a locksmith instead of a priest.”🤣😂
