An 82-year-old priest and a 79-year-old nun were sitting quietly on a park bench after Sunday service.
After a long silence, the nun sighed and said,
“Father, after all these years… I have a confession.”
The priest smiled warmly.
“My child, at our age, nothing can shock me anymore.”
The nun leaned closer and whispered,
“Forty years ago… I was madly in love with you.”
The priest nearly dropped his walking cane.
“You… you were?”
She nodded slowly.
“Yes. And if you had asked me back then… I would have left the convent for you.”
The old priest stared at her with watery eyes and said softly,
“My dear sister… why didn’t you tell me?”
The nun smirked.
“Because I was waiting to see if you’d finally break your vow before I broke mine.”
The priest blinked twice… then burst out laughing.
“Well,” he said, adjusting his collar,
“looks like we both wasted perfectly good hips.”
