80s Comedian Famous for ‘Chase Me’ Catchphrase, Passes Away at 66

Comedian Duncan Norvelle, best known for his iconic “Chase me” catchphrase, has passed away at the age of 66.

Norvelle gained fame in the early 1980s on ITV’s Saturday Royal and went on to feature in shows like Through the Keyhole and Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

His death was confirmed by his agent, who paid tribute, saying: “Duncan was a comedy genius and British icon ahead of his time who loved showbusiness. We managed Duncan and re-released his album Music From My Life, but above all, he became a good friend and will be deeply missed in the entertainment world.”

Norvelle’s partner Linda revealed he passed away from a chest infection and sepsis but was not in pain. “He’s at peace, and he’s brought joy to millions with his humor. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him,” she shared.

A post on his Facebook page read: “With great sadness, myself and Duncan’s children announce his passing this morning at 8:15 a.m. Duncan passed peacefully with myself and his daughter Yasmin by his side. Rest in peace, our comedy legend, deeply loved and greatly missed.”

The message, signed by his partner Lynn, mentioned that funeral details would be shared later.

Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow entertainers. Lizzie Cundy wrote on X, “Very sad to hear of Duncan Norvelle’s passing. His ‘chase me, chase me’ catchphrase always made me laugh. Sending love and thoughts to his family.”

Actor Stuart Antony from EastEnders also honored Norvelle, saying: “So sad to hear about lovely Duncan Norvelle’s passing. A comedy legend and one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Always had fantastic stories—RIP Duncan.”
