The Dipstick, The Gas Prices, And The Volkswagen Beetle: A Collection Of Hilarious Automotive Mix-Ups

After a few seconds of what appeared to be intelligent thinking, she carefully examined the dipstick again, turning it over in her hand as though she were studying a complicated piece of machinery. She looked at the engine, then back at the dipstick, and finally at the attendant, who was beginning to wonder what she was about to ask.

She took the dipstick in her hand and walked over to the attendant. “Excuse me,” she said, “but can I buy a longer dipstick?”

The attendant nodded politely. “Sure, ma’am, of course. Why do you need a longer one?”

She looked completely serious as she held up the dipstick and explained, “Because this one isn’t long enough to reach the oil.”

High Prices Of Gas
Two people walk into a gas station, both staring at the price board above the pumps. The numbers were so high that they stood there for a moment in silence, as if they were hoping the prices might suddenly change if they waited long enough.

The first one shakes his head and says, “These prices are awful. They just keep going higher!”

The second person looks completely unconcerned and calmly replies, “It doesn’t affect me at all. I always put in just $20 worth.”

The first person pauses, staring at him in disbelief, before realizing that technically, he was absolutely right.

Two Gas Company Servicemen,
a senior training supervisor and a young trainee, were out checking meters in a suburban neighbourhood. The supervisor had spent years doing the job and was determined to teach the younger man everything he knew. The trainee, meanwhile, was eager to prove that his youth gave him at least one advantage over his experienced teacher.

They parked their truck at the end of the alley and worked their way to the other end, carefully checking each meter along the way. At the last house, a woman looking out her kitchen window watched the two men as they checked her gas meter. She noticed them talking and laughing before finishing their work.

Finishing the meter check, the senior supervisor suddenly challenged his younger co-worker to a foot race down the alley back to the truck to prove that an older guy could outrun a younger one. The trainee laughed at the idea but accepted the challenge, confident that there was no possible way his older supervisor could beat him.

As they came running up to the truck, however, they realised the lady from that last house was huffing and puffing right behind them. The two men stopped, completely confused, and turned around to see her struggling to catch her breath.

They asked her what was wrong. Gasping for breath, she replied, “When I saw two men from the gas company running as hard as you two were, I figured I’d better run too!”

Two best friends Emma and Catherine meet each other at a coffee shop, and Emma arrived quite late. Catherine had been waiting for several minutes and was just about to call her when Emma finally rushed through the door, looking frustrated and slightly embarrassed.

Emma explained the reason for being late. “I bought a Volkswagen Beetle last week, and today it broke down in the middle of the road. I couldn’t believe it. I thought something was wrong with the engine, so I got out and checked under the hood.”

Catherine leaned forward, expecting to hear about an expensive repair, a broken belt, or some other serious mechanical problem.

Emma continued, “To my surprise, when I checked, there was no engine under the hood. I have absolutely no idea how it happened. The engine must have been lost somewhere along the way.”

Catherine listened calmly, apparently trying to understand how someone could possibly lose an entire engine without noticing.

Then she smiled reassuringly and said, “Oh really? Don’t worry at all.”

Emma looked relieved, expecting Catherine to suggest a mechanic or perhaps a way to find the missing engine.

Catherine casually added, “I also own a Volkswagen Beetle, and I have a spare engine in the trunk of my car. You can have it.”

For a moment, Emma simply stared at her, wondering whether Catherine was joking—or whether she had somehow misunderstood the entire situation.
