Hollywood Screenwriter William Hasley Found Dead on Los Angeles Hiking Trail at 78
Hollywood screenwriter and author William Hasley, best known for co-authoring Caitlyn Jenner’s motivational book Finding the Champion Within, has died at the age of 78 after being found on a hiking trail near Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles. Authorities confirmed that Hasley was discovered on the evening of June 6, and emergency rescue crews were unable to revive him. The cause of death remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Hasley enjoyed a long and diverse career in the entertainment industry, writing for several popular television series and animated productions. His early work included scripts for beloved cartoons such as The Smurfs and Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. Throughout his career, he also contributed to television shows including Murder, She Wrote, Highway to Heaven, Kung Fu, and Ghost Stories.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Hasley graduated from Marshall University before moving to Hollywood to pursue a writing career. His professional achievements extended beyond television, with screenplays sold to major studios including Warner Bros., Universal Studios, and 20th Century Fox.
