UFC Flyweight Allan Nascimento Dies at 34 After Apparent Heart Attack
Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter Allan Nascimento, a respected member of the UFC flyweight division, has died at the age of 34.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that Nascimento was found unresponsive on the morning of Monday, August 3, 2026, after reportedly suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Despite efforts by emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. An official medical determination of the cause of death had not been publicly released at the time of the initial reports.
Nascimento’s sudden death has shocked the international mixed martial arts community, with fighters, coaches and fans paying tribute to the Brazilian athlete.
UFC Expresses Condolences
In its announcement, the UFC described Nascimento as a beloved member of its flyweight roster and extended condolences to his family, friends, teammates and loved ones.
Nascimento had competed professionally for approximately 15 years and was considered one of the most technically accomplished grapplers in the UFC’s 125-pound division. He was particularly admired for his submission skills and his determination to continue competing at the highest level.
The Brazilian fighter died only weeks after his most recent appearance in the Octagon—a closely contested bout against Mitch Raposo on June 20, 2026, which he lost by split decision at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. The Guardian
A Career Built on Submission Skills
Nascimento, whose nickname “Puro Osso” translates roughly as “pure bone” or “skin and bones,” began his professional MMA career in 2011.
Over the course of his career, he compiled a professional record of 22 victories and seven defeats. Fifteen of those wins came by submission, demonstrating his exceptional ability on the ground. He also recorded two knockout victories and 12 first-round finishes.
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Nascimento was skilled in numerous submission techniques, including rear-naked chokes, triangle chokes, heel hooks, armbars, kneebars and the anaconda choke.
He received wider international exposure in 2018 when he fought Raulian Paiva on the Brazilian edition of Dana White’s Contender Series. Although Nascimento lost that fight by a narrow split decision, his performance helped establish his reputation as a talented and persistent competitor.
Joining the UFC
Nascimento eventually made his official UFC debut against Tagir Ulanbekov at UFC 267 in October 2021. He lost the competitive contest by split decision but subsequently established himself as a dangerous opponent within the division.
His notable UFC victories included wins over Jake Hadley, Carlos Hernandez, Jafel Filho and Cody Durden. Nascimento defeated Hadley and Filho by unanimous decision, while Hernandez and Durden were stopped by submission.
His November 2025 victory over Durden was particularly memorable. Nascimento secured an anaconda choke in the second round, once again displaying the grappling ability that had defined much of his professional career.
Nascimento finished his UFC run with four victories and two defeats.
An Important Member of Chute Boxe
Nascimento trained at Chute Boxe Diego Lima in São Paulo, one of Brazil’s best-known mixed martial arts teams. The gym has produced and supported several prominent fighters, including former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.
Nascimento and Oliveira developed a close friendship through years of training together. Following the news of his death, Oliveira paid an emotional tribute to his teammate and described him as a brother.
The Chute Boxe team also remembered Nascimento for his humility, positive personality and fighting spirit. His death represents a profound loss for a team known for the strong family-like relationships among its fighters.
Nascimento had previously spoken warmly about the atmosphere at Chute Boxe, explaining that the fighters trained, travelled and celebrated together. That sense of unity became especially visible as teammates rallied around his family following his passing.
Fighters and Fans Pay Tribute
Tributes poured in from across the combat-sports community after the UFC confirmed the news. Fellow fighters and supporters remembered Nascimento not only as an exceptionally skilled athlete but also as a kind and cheerful person outside the cage.
His death at such a young age has been especially difficult for those who had recently seen him competing at an elite level. Only six weeks separated his final UFC appearance from his death.
The sudden loss has also drawn attention to the physical and emotional bonds that develop among fighters, coaches and training partners. While MMA is an intensely competitive sport, the reaction to Nascimento’s death demonstrated the close relationships within its international community.
A Fighter Who Refused to Give Up
Nascimento’s path to the UFC was neither quick nor easy. After beginning his professional career in Brazil, he spent years competing in smaller organizations before earning an opportunity on the Contender Series. Even after losing that bout, he continued working toward his goal of joining the UFC.
His eventual arrival in the promotion in 2021 represented the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. Nascimento once said that competing in the UFC meant his work was being recognized and that he had always trained to fight in the world’s leading MMA organization.
Although injuries, cancelled fights and changes of opponents sometimes slowed his progress, Nascimento continued to approach his career with patience and optimism.
Remembering Allan Nascimento
Allan Nascimento will be remembered as a gifted submission specialist, a determined competitor and a much-loved member of the Brazilian MMA community.
His record of 22 professional victories, including 15 submissions, reflects the technical skill and fighting intelligence he brought to the cage. However, the tributes from friends and teammates suggest that his greatest legacy may be the relationships he formed beyond it.
Nascimento’s sudden death at the age of 34 has brought a promising career to a heartbreaking end. He leaves behind memories of remarkable grappling performances, years of perseverance and a reputation for kindness among those who knew him.
The UFC, his Chute Boxe teammates and MMA supporters around the world have joined in mourning a fighter whose life ended far too soon.
