The Wedding Vows That Almost Broke the Church

A young priest and a young nun had spent years working together at the same parish.

One afternoon, after helping organize a charity event, the priest nervously said,

“Sister, I think I need to confess something.”

The nun smiled. “Go ahead, Father.”

“I’ve realized that every time I see you, I forget my sermon notes.”

The nun laughed. “That’s funny… because every time I see you, I forget the hymn numbers.”

After a long silence, the priest finally blurted out,

“What if we left all this behind and got married?”

The nun’s eyes widened.

“Married?”

“Yes! A little house, a garden, maybe a dog…”

The nun thought for a moment and replied,

“That actually sounds wonderful.”

The priest couldn’t believe his luck.

“So you’ll marry me?”

“Absolutely!”

Excited, they rushed to meet the bishop and explained everything.

The bishop listened carefully and then smiled.

“Well, if this is truly what you both want, I have no objection.”

The priest and nun hugged each other with joy.

As they were leaving, the bishop called after them,

“One more thing!”

“Yes, Bishop?”

“Who’s going to tell your spouses?”

The priest and nun froze.

“Spouses?”

The bishop nodded.

“Of course. Did you think I was talking about marrying each other?” 😄
