Confident in his expensive suit, fancy degree, and oversized ego, the lawyer smirks and says:

“Why did you stop me?”

The sheriff replies,
“You didn’t come to a complete stop at that stop sign. License and registration.”

The lawyer chuckles.
“I slowed down. Nobody was coming.”

The sheriff folds his arms.
“You still didn’t STOP.”

Now fully in courtroom mode, the lawyer grins and says:

“Tell you what, officer…
If you can explain the legal difference between slowing down and stopping, I’ll hand over my license and gladly take the ticket.
But if you can’t… you let me go.”

The sheriff pauses.

Then smiles.

“Fair enough, counselor. Step out of the vehicle.”

The lawyer confidently steps out.

WHACK!

The sheriff suddenly starts beating him with his baton like he’s trying to tenderize steak.

The lawyer screams:

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

The sheriff calmly asks:

“Now… do you want me to STOP… or just slow down?”
