When Silence Said Everything

“Hi, I’ll be late tonight. Please try and wash all my dirty clothes and make sure you prepare my favorite dish before I return.”

He waited a few minutes. No reply.

Thinking maybe she didn’t see it, he sent another message:

“And I forgot to tell you—my boss gave me a raise! At the end of the month, I’m getting you a brand-new car.”

This time, he smiled to himself, certain she’d answer right away.

But still—silence.

When he finally got home hours later, he opened the door to a spotless living room. His dirty laundry? Gone. The aroma of his favorite dish filled the air. And there on the dining table was a plate, neatly covered, with a little note on top:

“Clothes are washed. Dinner is ready. And by the way… I read your first text. That’s why I ignored the second one.”

The husband froze. In that single sentence, she had said more than a hundred texts ever could.
