Beloved Former MTV VJ and Talk Show Host, Dies at 52 After Battle With Breast Cancer

Ananda Lewis, the iconic former MTV VJ and daytime talk show host, has passed away at the age of 52 following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her sister, Lakshmi, in an emotional Facebook post on Wednesday. “She’s free, and in His heavenly arms,” she wrote, sharing a black-and-white photo of Ananda. “Lord, rest her soul.”

Lewis first revealed her Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in October 2020, disclosing in a heartfelt Instagram video that she had been battling the disease privately for two years. Her message urged women to prioritize their health.

“This is tough for me, but if just ONE woman decides to get her mammogram after watching this, what I’m going through will be worth it,” she wrote.

Known for her warmth, charisma, and advocacy, Lewis leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond television—one of strength, courage, and a voice that inspired many.
