Oxford, Mississippi — Guy Hovis, the beloved singer best known for his long-running performances on The Lawrence Welk Show, has died at the age of 84. His passing was confirmed by his former wife and musical partner, Ralna English, who said he died peacefully on January 22, 2026, after spending several weeks in the hospital.
Hovis rose to national prominence as part of the popular singing duo Guy & Ralna, which became one of the show’s most cherished acts. The pair first appeared together during a 1969 Christmas episode, and their chemistry and vocal harmony quickly won over audiences, earning them a regular spot on the iconic television program for more than a decade.
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1941, Hovis began singing in church at just five years old, laying the foundation for a lifelong musical career.
