My dad has his own fairly large business, and for years, my husband worked for him. Since I have always been far removed from that sphere and never considered myself a good businesswoman, my father had quietly made plans for the future. His intention was to eventually hand over the management of the company to my husband. He trusted him, respected his work, and believed he was the person who could carry on everything he had built.
I never questioned that decision. My husband seemed ambitious, hardworking, and loyal. At least, that was what I believed. Then everything collapsed when I discovered that he had a mistress. It wasn’t some harmless rumor or misunderstanding. There were messages, photographs, and enough evidence that there was no way he could deny what he had done. The revelation turned into a scandal, followed by a bitter divorce. Dad was furious, but surprisingly, he did not fire him immediately because my ex was genuinely good at his job.
However, Dad made one thing very clear: my ex would never inherit the business. The future he had once been promised disappeared overnight. Instead of handing him the company, Dad moved him into a top-level management position with considerably less earning potential and made it clear that he would have to prove himself all over again. My ex was furious. He complained that Dad was ruining his career and punishing him professionally for something that had nothing to do with the business. Dad simply told him that trust was something you could lose in one moment and could not demand back.
Then came the final confrontation. My ex got into a serious conflict with Dad over a major business decision, and this time Dad had had enough. He fired him. Within weeks, his mistress left him too. Suddenly, the comfortable future he had expected was gone, his career was in pieces, and the woman he had risked our marriage for was no longer interested in him.
That’s when he started trying to come back to me.
At first, I ignored his messages. Then the apologies began. He said he had made the biggest mistake of his life. He claimed he had finally realized that I was the person who truly loved him and that losing me had taught him what really mattered. But there was one thing I couldn’t stop wondering about: if Dad had still been planning to give him the company, would he have suddenly discovered how much he loved me?
I never gave him the answer he wanted.
I simply told him that some doors only open once, and he had been given every opportunity to walk through mine. He chose someone else instead. Now he could live with that choice.
And strangely, watching him lose everything he thought was guaranteed to him didn’t make me feel cruel. It made me realize how lucky I was that my father had seen the truth before I did.
Story 2 – I was in a relationship with this guy for four years. I loved him, trusted him, and genuinely thought we were building a future together. Then I discovered that he had cheated on me. The betrayal was bad enough, but what hurt even more was how casually he acted afterward, as though I would eventually calm down, forgive him, and take him back. I kicked him out of my apartment and told him I never wanted to see him again.
For a while, I kept wondering how to get even with him. I didn’t want to do anything illegal or dangerous, but I wanted him to understand that his actions had consequences. Then, one evening, it suddenly dawned on me. He had left a ridiculous amount of his stuff in my apartment—clothes, shoes, gadgets, small pieces of furniture, and other things he’d apparently assumed would still be waiting for him whenever he decided to return.
Days turned into weeks, and he never came back for any of it.
I started thinking he was deliberately leaving everything behind because he still believed there was a chance I’d forgive him. Maybe he imagined he’d eventually show up, give me some emotional speech, and walk back into my life as if nothing had happened. So I decided to make one small change to his plan.
I placed all his stuff on an online marketplace.
At first, I felt slightly guilty. Then I remembered the lies, the betrayal, and the confidence with which he’d assumed I’d still be there waiting for him. That guilt disappeared pretty quickly. I priced everything reasonably, posted clear photographs, and within hours people started messaging me. I’ve already sold half of it.
The strangest part was that I didn’t feel angry anymore. Every time another item disappeared from my apartment, it felt as though I was reclaiming another little piece of my life. And while he was apparently busy trying to figure out how to win me back, his belongings were quietly finding new homes.
Now I feel much better, my apartment is finally clearing out, and I’ve even earned enough money to buy myself some new clothes.
So, technically, he cheated on me and left me with nothing but heartbreak.
And somehow, I ended up with a cleaner apartment, a little extra money, and absolutely no reason to take him back.
Thank you, honey!
