A husband and wife were driving from Key West to Boston, pushing themselves through nearly twenty-four exhausting hours on the road. Completely drained, they decided they couldn’t go any further without rest.

Spotting a nice hotel along the way, they checked in, agreeing they would only sleep for four hours before continuing their journey. It was a simple plan—rest quickly, recharge, and get back on the road.

Four hours later, they checked out. But as the desk clerk handed over the bill, the husband’s eyes widened in disbelief. The total came to $350.

He immediately lost his temper.

“There’s no way this is right,” he snapped. “Sure, it’s a nice hotel, but these rooms are definitely not worth $350 for just a few hours!”

The clerk calmly replied that $350 was the standard rate. Unsatisfied, the man demanded to speak to the manager.

Moments later, the manager arrived and listened patiently as the husband vented his frustration. Once he finished, the manager explained that the hotel offered premium amenities—an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a massive conference center, both available to guests.

“But we didn’t use any of that!” the husband protested.

“Well, they’re here,” the manager replied coolly, “and you could have.”

He then went on to mention the hotel’s famous entertainment shows, featuring top performers from New York, Hollywood, and Las Vegas.

“But we didn’t attend any shows either!” the husband shot back.

Again, the manager remained unfazed. “They were available to you,” he said. “You could have.”

No matter what facility or service the manager listed, the husband repeated the same argument: “But we didn’t use it!” And every time, the manager responded with the same calm logic.

Eventually, realizing he wasn’t going to win this argument, the husband sighed and agreed to pay.

He pulled out his checkbook, wrote a check, and handed it over.

The manager glanced at it—and frowned.

“Sir,” he said, confused, “this check is only for $100.”

The husband smiled slightly.

“That’s correct,” he replied. “I charged you $250 for sleeping with my wife.”

The manager’s eyes widened in shock. “But I didn’t!”

The husband shrugged calmly.

“Well,” he said, “she was here… and you could have.”😂
