Amber Siyavus, ‘Big Brother’ Season 8 Contestant, Dies at 46
Amber Siyavus, who became a familiar face to reality television viewers during the eighth season of Big Brother, has died at 46.
Siyavus died on October 9, 2026, according to records from Nevada’s Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner reviewed by Us Weekly. Her cause of death remains pending. TMZ first reported the news on October 12.
A Memorable Presence in the ‘Big Brother’ House
Siyavus appeared on the CBS reality competition in 2007. A cocktail waitress from Las Vegas, she was 27 when she entered the house and ultimately finished in seventh place.
Her emotional reactions became a defining part of her time on the show, earning her the nickname “Whamber.” She reached the jury phase without winning either a Head of Household or Power of Veto competition.
Alongside the pressures of the game, Siyavus formed close friendships with fellow contestants Jameka Cameron and Dustin Erikstrup. Those relationships were an important part of her experience during the season.
Julie Chen Moonves Pays Tribute
Following news of her death, Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves shared a tribute remembering Siyavus for her openness and emotional honesty.
“Thank you for your heart and honesty. We will remember you with love,” Chen Moonves wrote.
Her message accompanied a clip from Siyavus’s final moments on the reality show, bringing viewers back to the appearance that introduced her to a national audience.
Motherhood and a Personal Loss
During her time on Big Brother, Siyavus frequently spoke about her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, and her life as a mother.
In 2018, she suffered a devastating loss when Lexi died at 18. Her daughter’s death became a painful chapter in the former contestant’s life, years after viewers had heard her speak about their bond inside the house.
Siyavus’s death comes nearly two decades after her television appearance. The tribute from Chen Moonves recalled the qualities that made her memorable to viewers: her heart, her honesty and her willingness to show her emotions.
