One evening, a wife named Sarah began feeling uneasy about her husband David’s behavior. He’d been guarding his phone lately, smiling at messages, and whispering into calls. Her curiosity—and suspicion—got the best of her.
When David went to shower, Sarah picked up his phone. Her heart pounded as she found three contacts that instantly made her stomach drop:
“The Tender One”
“The Amazing One”
“Lady of My Dreams.”
Trembling, she decided to call them one by one.
Conversation 1:
Mother: “Hello?”
Sarah: “Uh, hi… who’s this?”
Mother: “This is David’s mother. Who’s speaking?”
Sarah: (blushing) “Oh! Hi, Mom… it’s Sarah. Sorry, I must’ve dialed by mistake.”
Mother: “No worries, dear. Everything alright?”
Sarah: “Yes, all good. Thank you.”
Feeling foolish but still uneasy, she tried the next number.
Conversation 2:
Sister: “Hey there!”
Sarah: “Um… may I know who’s this?”
Sister: “It’s Anna, David’s sister. Who’s this?”
Sarah: (relieved sigh) “Oh, it’s Sarah. Sorry, I didn’t recognize the number.”
Sister: “Haha, no problem. Talk later?”
Sarah: “Sure.”
At this point, she was almost ready to laugh at herself—but something inside urged her to check the last one: “Lady of My Dreams.”
She pressed “Call.”
And to her horror… her own phone started ringing.
Conversation 3:
Sarah: (picking up) “Hello?”
David: “Sarah? Why are you calling yourself?”
Sarah: (voice trembling) “David, I found those names in your phone and thought…”
David: (chuckling) “Oh, sweetheart… those are just my special nicknames for the people I love—my mom, my sister, and you.”
Embarrassed and emotional, Sarah burst into tears, realizing how wrong she’d been. The next day, she apologized and even gave him her entire month’s salary as a gesture of love and remorse.
David smiled, kissed her on the forehead—and later used that money to buy a gift for his real girlfriend, whose number was saved as “Uncle Mike the Mechanic.”
