The final blow came when Colin flipped his plate, spilling stew all over her uniform. Leslie howled with laughter while diners looked on, some with pity, others with judgment. Miranda’s strength crumbled. She fled to the kitchen, tears streaming down her face.

Chef Robert found her sobbing in the corner. “Look, I don’t want to meddle, but you’re stronger than this. You’ve got a spirit bigger than their cruelty,” he told her gently.

Colin tried to rally. “She sabotaged my food! Fire her!” he shouted, pointing at Miranda.

Michael calmly stepped in, tasted the stew, and shook his head. “The dish is perfect. And Miranda has worked here long enough for me to know she wouldn’t do anything like that.” He then leaned closer and added pointedly, “Sometimes the real heat doesn’t come from the food—it comes from how we treat people. Maybe think about that.”

The dining room fell silent. Colin, flushed and humiliated, had no reply. He left, defeated.
