Soap Star Esta TerBlanche’s Cause of Death Confirmed

The cause of death for All My Children actress Esta TerBlanche has been officially confirmed, six months after her unexpected passing at the age of 51.

According to a press release from the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner, TerBlanche died in July from an intracranial hemorrhage—a type of brain bleed—resulting from a blunt force head injury, likely caused by a fall from a low height. TMZ was the first to report the news.

An intracranial hemorrhage occurs when blood accumulates between the brain and the skull, restricting oxygen flow to the brain, per the Cleveland Clinic.

TerBlanche, best known for her portrayal of Gillian Andrassy on All My Children in the late ’90s and early 2000s, was found unresponsive at her home on July 19, 2024. Paramedics pronounced her dead at 11:10 a.m. local time that day.

Following an examination on July 22 and subsequent test results, the medical examiner ruled her death an accident.
