Jill Jacobson, celebrated for her roles in popular TV series such as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Who’s the Boss?, has passed away at the age of 70.
Her friend and publicist, Dan Harary, confirmed that Jacobson died on Sunday, December 8, at Culver West Health Center in Culver City, California, following a prolonged illness.
“Beautiful, energetic, and positive to the end, she will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends, and her beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski,” her family shared in a statement.
Jacobson, who was recognized for her advocacy work with the American Cancer Society, had publicly discussed her battle with esophageal cancer earlier this year. Reflecting on her recovery, she shared with Jim Masters, “What I went through was pretty intense. You can’t function, you just can’t function. And now I’m so grateful, I just want to keep going, I want to help people. It makes you want to help people.”
Her close friend and The New Gidget co-star, Caryn Richman, also paid tribute, stating, “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”
Over the decades, Jacobson showcased her talent in numerous television series, including Days of Our Lives, Falcon Crest, Quantum Leap, Murphy Brown, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Arli$$, Party Down, Hung, and Castle. She also appeared in various independent films since the 1970s, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
